In response, Vivab, the municipal water company, initiated a design competition, inviting architects to conceptualize a structure that would not only meet functional demands but also serve as an inspirational landmark.

Among the proposals, the design by White Arkitekter emerged triumphant, embodying the essence of the name "Våga," which translates to both "wave" and "dare" in Swedish. This unique interpretation is evident in the pavilion's elongated, wave-like silhouette, moving away from the traditional cylindrical forms of water towers. The design symbolizes Varberg's coastal identity while encouraging a daring approach to reimagining what a water tower can signify. Stretching an impressive 187 meters in length and supported by nine slender pillars, the tower achieves a harmonious balance between functionality and aesthetic beauty.
