Voids Chair, Pink Mirror

The chair mold is crafted from corrugated steel sheets, assembled by simply aligning and bending off-the-shelf sheets along their curvature to form the profile of a chair. The dimensions correspond to those of a standard dining chair without armrests, providing comfort and practicality. The corrugated steel is meticulously folded in the direction of the front, seat, and backrest, with the backrest shortened to support the upper back below the neck for optimal seating posture.

For casting, the mold will be positioned with the side facing upwards. During mold creation, any material can be employed to support the steel structure. It is important to note that all materials, including the support structure and pieces of the metal mold, will either be disposed of or reused for other projects after completion. The mold itself will be intentionally broken post-casting, ensuring that each chair is one-of-a-kind and cannot be reassembled in the same manner.

The design process allows for flexibility; while symmetry is an option, the chair need not be perfectly symmetrical. The backrest will have a gentle slope leaning backward, avoiding an upright position that is typically uncomfortable. Embracing the natural deformations that may occur during the molding or casting process is vital; these irregularities will be accepted and celebrated as part of the chair's unique identity.

After the casting is complete, certain surfaces will be left in their raw state while others will be polished to create a tactile contrast. The edges of the chair will be hand-finished, whether smooth or sharp, ensuring that no machine touches the finished product from start to finish. This meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship embodies the essence of the chair, making each piece not just functional furniture, but an artistic expression.

The Pink Mirror, characterized by its soft, cloud-like shape and glossy acrylic resin surface, captures the serene beauty of a pinky-orange sunrise and sunset. Its gentle hues and airy form, combined with the transparency of the material, facilitate a delicate interplay between softness and solidity. This unique design also invites varied perceptions of color and texture, enhancing the viewer's experience and offering a captivating focal point in any space. The Pink Mirror stands as a testament to the harmonious balance between elegance and whimsy, transforming everyday reflections into moments of tranquil beauty.
