The Shenzhen Science & Technology Museum in Guangming District has recently opened as a landmark dedicated to innovation, research, and future technologies. Designed as a key destination in the Greater Bay Area, the museum highlights Shenzhen’s role as a global leader in technological development, collaborating closely with local industry, academia, and research institutions. The building’s form is a solid, spherical volume facing the city and positioned at the southeast corner of the Science Park, with outdoor terraces extending into the surrounding landscape, creating engaging public spaces and outdoor galleries.

Spanning over 35,000 square meters of exhibition space, the museum includes galleries, theaters, laboratories, educational facilities, and an innovation center. The interior layout features galleries rising from the central atrium, which acts as an inviting focal point with panoramic views and natural light streaming through its large glazed wall. This atrium blurs the indoors and outdoors, inviting the surrounding landscape inside and creating an inspiring environment for visitors.

Incorporating passive environmental strategies, the design uses advanced simulations to optimize its form and envelope for Shenzhen’s subtropical climate. The building orientation minimizes solar heat gain, while a ventilated cavity with stainless-steel panels improves insulation and weather resistance. The façade, featuring China's first large-scale dual colour INCO technology, displays a dynamic gradient from deep blue to grey, symbolizing celestial bodies and adding texture to the exterior.

The project aims for a three-star certification under China's Green Building Standard. It employs energy-efficient systems, recyclable materials, and water recycling, significantly reducing its environmental footprint. The construction process utilized BIM and 3D scanning technology, along with robotic forming, ensuring precise execution of complex surfaces.
