The relationship between the human body and its surroundings is fundamentally defined by orientation. Just as our perspective shifts based on our positioning - whether we are facing something directly or viewing it from an angle - architecture too is guided by geometric principles that dictate how we experience space. This notion serves as the foundation for Shire, an architectural project born from the desire of its owners to escape the confines of urban living. After years spent in a cramped city environment, they yearn for a new beginning, one that fosters a deeper connection with the natural world and creates diverse experiences reflective of their surroundings.

The design journey of Shire unfolds through a two-step process that begins with the division of a linear bar that accommodates the essential program. This initial segment is subsequently transformed as it is bent and manipulated until it takes the form of a complete circle - an embodiment of continuity without vertices or limits. This parametrization of geometry facilitates a deeper understanding of how to articulate spaces in relation to the land, paving the way for varied interactions and experiences. The integration of geometry with nature further allows the creation of an ascending path, extending the architectural form into a new dimension, and offering expansive panoramic views that enhance the sense of belonging to the environment.

Shire embodies more than just a novel architectural form; it represents a conscious lifestyle shift away from conventional urban consumerism. The clients aspire to cultivate a self-sufficient ecosystem where production and consumption are harmonized, minimizing waste and eschewing the cycle of disposal. By generating its own electricity, heating, water, and sustenance, Shire envisions a future with no garbage - a thriving habitat that progressively integrates with nature rather than deteriorating over time. In this way, the architecture not only enhances ecological and functional benefits but also grants nature a leading role, merging seamlessly with its surroundings and redefining the very essence of how we inhabit space.
