The Church of St. Wenceslas in Sazovice is a modern, contemporary church inspired by traditional principles, designed by Atelier Štěpán. The idea of building a church here originated during the interwar period, revived in 2011 by the local community.

The project focused on selecting a location that would enhance the spiritual significance of the site. After thorough analysis, one site was chosen at the heart of the village, strategically aligned with the surrounding structure and social fabric, establishing it as a sacred focal point for future generations. The shape of the church, a simple cylinder, draws from historical rotundas from St. Wenceslas’ era, symbolizing divine completeness. The design intentionally creates a sense of lightness through tapering walls and carefully crafted windows that filter soft, natural light, emphasizing the spiritual and dematerialized essence of the structure.

The architectural approach centers on creating a space that influences the mind and soul subtly. The volume appears light and delicate, similar to paper cutouts, with windows pushed and pulled to allow light to glide gently along its surfaces. This design aims to evoke a divine presence that operates beyond the physical. The church interior is intentionally minimalistic, devoid of elaborate decoration, encouraging personal reflection and meditation. The interior's simplicity conveys a sense of quietness, peace, and intimacy, inviting visitors to experience a connection to the divine without distraction.

The altar, a bronze shell with an organic, smooth shape, symbolizes the touch of God - a reminder of divine contact and energy flowing through ritual and spiritual connection. Inspired by the gestures of Confirmation and Sanctification, the design emphasizes the act of contact and unity. Overall, the church embodies a poetic, spiritual space that fosters personal inner peace and reverence, offering a sanctuary for contemplation and divine inspiration.
