Located at the corner of Západní Street and the road leading to Edisonova School, this single-story building features an elliptical floor plan crowned with a flat green roof and an elevated section above the multifunctional hall.
Designed with sensitivity to its surroundings, the organic shape of the kindergarten promotes openness, freedom of movement, harmony, and beauty - elements vital for children’s development. The building is positioned to maximize natural sunlight exposure and to offer clear views into the adjacent landscape and forest park, creating a high-quality public space in front of the nursery with elliptical green islands, encouraging pedestrian circulation.
Inside, a lush green atrium with newly planted sakura trees serves as a peaceful retreat - a symbolic Garden of Eden representing the child's pure soul. This interior space establishes a visual and physical connection with the garden outside, reflecting the idea of children emerging from paradise into the real world.
The internal layout is divided into two separate sections, each accommodating 25 children, with necessary operational, sanitary, and catering facilities. The central multifunctional hall can be used for performances, physical activities, and events outside school hours. Flexible with mobile sliding panels, the hall allows spatial reconfiguration. The classrooms and play/nap rooms are symmetrically arranged on the side wings, featuring open, child-friendly furniture, toy shelves, built-in cabinets, mobile containers, and frameless windows at eye level, offering views into the garden.
The interiors feature a neutral color palette with light gray linoleum flooring, light birch plywood furniture, white walls, and acoustically perforated ceilings with circular lighting. The large floor-to-ceiling windows facing the courtyard integrate the garden into the interior environment, creating a harmonious, all-encompassing setting that nurtures children’s growth and curiosity within a serene and beautiful space.
